NIRSAL held a technical session with public and private sector stakeholders to explore agribusiness opportunities, review challenges and proffer upgrades. A work plan to operationalise the partnership was also developed. In line with NIRSAL’s wholistic Mapping-To-Markets (M2M) concept, it was resolved that NIRSAL will facilitate access to finance for the project and form Agro Geo-Cooperative (AGC) for feed production as part of a proposed 5,000 hectare livestock project. Additionally, NIRSAL will form AGCs for the production of select focus commodities and link them with markets. Meanwhile, the Sokoto State Government will provide 20,000 hectares of farmland for cultivation by local smallholder farmers.
