Sokoto State House of Assembly had a sitting today where Rt. Hon. Speaker Aminu Muhammad Achida presided over the sitting. During the plenary, the Speaker announced that he received a message from the State Governor Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal which was read to the House.
Contained in the letter was nomination for the confirmation of Chairman, Sokoto Internal Revenue Service (SOIRS) in line with section 6(2a) of the Sokoto State Revenue Integration and Consolidation Law 2019. The name of Aminu Dalhatu Zurmi for was forwarded for consideration and confirmation as Executive Chairman of the Revenue Services. The appointment will last for the period of five years. The letter was laid on the table.
House Leader, Hon. Bello Isah Ambarura presented an order of the day presentation of 2021 budget address by the Governor of Sokoto State.
The State Governor Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal presented his 2021 Budget Proposal before the House to the tune of One Hundred and Seventy Six Billion, Six Hundred and Eighty Five Million, Five Hundred and Thirty Five Thousand, Six Hundred and Thirty Three, Forty Seven Kobo (N176, 685,535,633.47).
The Expenditure Distribution is as follows:- 1. Personnel Cost = N36,199,656,390.09 2. Overhead Cost = N30,032,230,567.20 3. Pension and Gratuities Public = N4,200,000,000.00 Debt Charges. 4. Interest Payment = N9,126,517,733. 5. Internal Debt Services (IDS) = N1,600,000,000.00 6. Capital Projects = N95,527,130,973.13
TOTAL = N176, 685,535,633.47.
Sectoral Allocation Education got the lion share of (N38, 784,571,035.78) represent 21.9%, followed by Agriculture (20,770,716,027.29) 11.8%, Health came Third with (17,905,299,159.00) 10.13%.
In his remarks, the Speaker appreciates the address by the Governor of Sokoto State as “Your Excellency on behalf of the entire Hon. Members of this Honourable House, I wish to sincerely thank you for bringing the 2021 Budget proposal for the State, we are indeed delighted by your elaborate Budget Speech on the formal presentation of the 2021 Budget address”.
According to the Speaker he said the 2021 Budget will receive the blessings of the House without delay, as this will enable your administration to continue with its important programs and projects that are aimed at bringing development in our dear State.
Thereafter the House Leader, Bello Isah Ambarura moved motion for the adjournment of the Hon. House, question put and agreed to. The Hon. House accordingly adjourned the House until Tuesday 15th December.
